| MICO®
Twisted |
|
MICO® is available also twisted (in
the Light Duty range) with a frequency of 20 twists per metre.
This cable is a solution in fire detection systems, building
management, fire telephones systems, closed circuit television,
alarm systems.
MICO® twisted like any other MICC cable is available covered
in L.S.F. (same colours as standard Mico®). Dimensional
and electrical characteristics are listed in the central pages
of this publication codes 2T1 and 2T1.5. Accessories are the
same as standard 2L1 and 2L1.5 cables.

| Decorative Junction Boxes |
|
MICO® is often used in historical or
monumental buildings, museums, theatres, churches and artistic
sites where together with its safety characteristics is preferred
for aesthetic reasons, thanks to its bare copper outer sheath
that eventually reaches the typical colour of old copper and
compliments itself well with wood, brick, stone or old iron.
When it is not possible to penetrate the wall but the cable
is surface-mounted, all the electric plant can be chosen in
the same material: with this purpose some special junction
boxes have been manufactured in sand-blasted brass.

|
| Applications |
MICO® structure offers the best performance in many applications:
|
|
» Fire resistant
MICO® easily conforms to the IEC 331
test, where it is powered at its rated voltage for 3 hours
at 750 °C. It is also certified with
accessories under Australian test conditions reaching 1050
°C after 3 hours of examination powered
at rated voltage.
» Earth wire
Outer sheath together with earth tail seal
provides a low resistive earth connection, moreover the shape
of this earth causes a short circuit phase-earth
for any cut of the cable permitting a fast protection by the
switches.
» Explosion proof
Mico® fitted at the ends with the ISO
metric entry thread glands can be used for wiring systems
in flameproof apparatus and potentially
explosive atmospheres.
» Waterproof
Outer sheath continuous and weldless together
with special waterproof IP67 glands with thread ISO 228 is
suitable for outdoor applications.
» Pliable
Mico® is available in coils and is easy
to bend for the quality of outer sheath copper, furthermore
due to its structure can be fixed with fewer
clips than other cables.
» Mechanical resistance
MICO® can be installed without further
protection because the weldless outer copper sheath filled
with magnesium oxide and solid conductors
offers strength against any abuse, furthermore MI cables can
operate at temperatures up to 250°C
indefinitely and resist for shorter periods up to 1000°C.
» Small overall diameters
MICO® diameter is smaller than standard
cable so it easily suits a lighting plant with lower impact
on the overall construction.
» Resistance to corrosion
The bare cable sheath is protected by copper
oxide that forms after a short period, in instances where
we may find an environment corrosive for
copper, it is common practice to use L.S.F. covered cables.
» Radiation resistant
MI cables are ideal for nuclear plants,
as they show little physical deterioration from nuclear radiation.
» Long life
Due to the components being absolutely inorganic
Mico" behaviour does not decrease with age and all electrical
and mechanical characteristics remain stable.
